Hi Christina,

Yes that would be simple and effective measures.

Unfortunately, there are many cyclists who don't have safety at the top of their priorities. They could be found zipping along dangerously on the pedestrian pavements or cycling against the flow of traffic.

Of course, the other half of the equation are careless or bullying drivers. They see the cyclists but simply refuse to give way to them. Or they might deliberately squeeze dangerously close as they pass the cyclist.

The bicycle culture is young here, so we have a long way to go.

Just one point about night cycling. To enhance visibility to other road users, why not use reflective aids such as wearing a reflective vest, armband or simply attaching adhesive strips to your helmet, bicycle etc? Over here in Norway, it is not uncommon to see cyclists wearing fluorescent cyclingshorts, T-shirts etc. on top of having the usual lights installed on their bicycles. It is reported that at a long distance, a car can spot a reflective disc on a person 90% better than say, a person wearing white.
